The following effects which can be seen in the nursing practice when the distribution of the population is by age are

  • Increase  in workload to the nurses when there is inadequate staffing. This will be very difficult when the dominating patient ratio is elderly population who needs assistance in all daily living activities
  • The nurses has to learn about multiculturalism because of the demographic pattern
  • The nurses has to stay up to date by continuously learning the new changes,this can be different from the syllabus what they have learnt in the curriculum .
