Introduction

Public health is considered as the health and wellbeing of a complete population. It is often bought up under government regulations. Public health basically deals with the subjects of epidemiology, disease prevention and hygiene.

Definition

Public health can be defined as the field of preventing diseases in the population and contributing to greater quality of life though organized efforts and initiatives. This definition is selected to focus on the impact of prevention and cure as an initiative of public health. Moreover, the United States have done great success in disease prevention under the public health initiatives.

US Public health system achievements

One of the biggest achievement of the US public health system is the prevention of vaccine-preventable disease. The system has bought prevention in terms of polio, measles, influenza, neonatal tetanus, rubella and congenital rubella syndrome. The last case of polio was reported in the Latin America in year 1991.

Another important achievement of the US public health system is the prevention and control of infectious disease in the population. The United States have complete and collaborative efforts for preventing emerging infectious diseases in the population.

Recommendations

Although a number of vaccine preventable diseases are eradiated from the population but still a number of vaccines are to be developed by the government. Everyday new diseases are introduced in the population so the public health initiatives must upgrade from time to time.
