RASH CAUSED BY INFECTION.

.PAIN WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE PORT SIGHT.

.INDURATION

.LOCALISED HARDENING OF THE PORT SIGHT.

BLOOD CULTURES CAN BE USED TO DIAGNOSE THE INFECTION.

TREATMENT

.

BROAD SPECTRUM ANTIBIOTICS.

.REMOVAL OF INFECTED PORT.

.OPEN DRAINAGE OF THE WOUND.

NURSING DIAGNOSIS SHOULD BE IN THIS AREAS.

.PROPER STERILISATION TECHNIQUES TO PREVENT FURTHER INFECTION.

ADOPT REGULAR ROUTINE FOR PORT CARE.

PORT STERILISATION SHOULD BE PETFORMED AFTER WADHING HANDS AND SHOULD BE DONE BY TRAINED PERSONNEL.

CHEST PORT MUST BE FLUSHED EVERY FOURTH WEEKLY.
