1. a) Homicide death rates for males = ( homicide deaths occurred among males \ estimated 2001 midyear populations for males ) x 100,000 = 15,555\139,813,000 x 100,000 = 11.12557

Homicide death rates for females = ( homicide deaths occurred among females \ estimated 2001 midyear populations for females ) x 100,000 =4753\144984000 x 100000 = 3.28

b) Ratio of homicide mortality rates for males compared to females = 3.4 : 1

c) This means that the rate of male homicide is more than three times the rate of female homicide. Males are killed more often than females. There is more voilence among men.

Importance :- This rate shows the structural and cultural conditions of a society . This shows the male dominance in society. This   shows the voilent behaviour in men. This shows the need of behavioural programme for men. There is need to study the psychopathologies created which lead to such devastating effect. Increased homicide rate of men has economical and emotional impact also. Counting the number of violent deaths is often more reliable than other violent acts. It is also the easier variable to compare between countries. It is a good indicator of the general amount of violence in a country.
