Nursing assessment plays key role for understanding patient needs.

Environmental control : the ability of an individual yo plan activities that control environment .

It means controlling factors in the environment.

Nursing process requires critical thinking skills , provide decision making framework to develop and guide a plan of care to fulfil patient's physiological , psychological, sociological, spiritual , environmental needs.

In nursing assessment we gather subjective and objective data like vital signs like temperature ,blood pressure ,heart rate etc,  pain level ,type ,environmental factors ,home saftey, domestic and family violence risk, fall risk etc so that we can treat the patient accordingly.

Heath may be viewed as a balance between the individual and the environment., hence controlling environmental factors like temperature management , isolation in case of infection etc play important role for treating patients and fulfilling their need.
