Determine the level of obesity and specific intervention needs of the client

set a realistic goal, assist the client with her on short, medium - and long terms goals. the realistic goal of 5-10% of initial body weight at the rate of 0.5-1kg per week

consider eating smaller meals more frequently during the day,

at least the client should have 8 glasses of water per day

increase the fiber content of the food to encourage longer chewing, create bulk and increase satiety. Include fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and legumes  

determine appropriate caloric level based on height, weight, age sex activity level

Time meals appropriately, keeping meal times constant from -day to-day

encourage the intake of complex carbohydrate foods such as corn, brown rice yam, green bananas, cassava, and ground provisions

limit the intake of sugar

control intake of salt. sal intake should be limited to not more than 6grams per day

recommened less fried and high-fat foods, cholesterol and satured fats

determine the sevrity of hypertension and specific intervention as needed for the client

eg, reduce sodium intake, weight loss, increase the possasium intakes, need to lower blood lipids

provide a nutritionally balanced diet with a varity of foods from all the food groups

limit the consumtion of caffeine and alcoholic beverages

include a regular physical activity program
