Role of a good Change leader in health care
Any person that leads or directs or one having authority to direct is called a Leader. Health care organisations are the organisations that are engaged in delivering the services for the prevention, treatment and management of illness and promotion of health through the services offered by the medical , nursing and allied health professionals. Change is an inevitable thing in health care and Change is important in health Care settings. A good leader should act as a Change agent in the organisation and he or she has to be aware about Changes and its importance,need of change etc. Changes are important to make the employees to learn new knowledge, skills , attitude and practice.
Role of a good Change leader
* Leaders have to make all the employees to understand the health Care organisation's mission and vision So that the employees will understand the importance of 'Change'
* Good , effective and frequent communication regarding the Changes to employees of health care organizations priorly.
* Provide training for the employees to acquire new skills and to develop positive attitude towards the Change.
* Conducting staff development programmes for each departments separately so that each professionals can feel that the leaders are minding them.
* New performance goals have to be introduced to employees.
* Appoint new talented people in implementing the Change, so that they can take care and monitor of the Change process in the organisation and can report to the leaders.
*Leaders has to implement the activities for sustaining and managing employees through effective communication, promotions and recognitions. Employee's satisfaction is an important aspect in implementing the Change.
* Create new leaders from employees, who can influence them positively and train them in implementing the Changes.
* Encourage team spirit among employees. Team spirit can help them to act as team and can adopt the Change together for the good future of the organisation.
* Create readiness among the staffs regarding the adaptation of Changes and find out the Resistors among them . Deal with the resistors by conducting separate sessions for them to clarify the doubts and make them aware about the importance and need of Change.
