Answer #1

1.Prescribed Allopurinol = 400 mg iv

Available dose =500mg/25 ml

Amount of medicine to be given =( Desired dose\div Available dose) x volume

= (400\div500) x 25

= 0.8 x 25 =20 ml

2.Prescribed dose = Cefazolin 500mg in 50 ml of NS

Time = 20 minutes =

ml/hour = Total iv volume \div time in hours

= 50\div(20 \div 60)

= 50 \div 0.33 =151.15 ml/hour

3.Prescribed dose =0.4 mg Naloxone iv

Available dose = 1mg/ml

Amount of Naloxone to be given =( Desired dose\div Available dose) x volume

=(0.4\div1) x 1

= 0.4 ml

4.Prescribed dose = 0.5 mg epinephrine subcutaneously

Available dose = 5 mg/ml

Amount of drug to be given = ( Desired dose\div Available dose) x volume

= (0.5\div5) x 1

= 0.1 ml

5.Prescribed dose = 1200ml in 24 hours

ml/hour =Total volume\divTime in hours

= 1200\div 24

= 50 ml/hour
