Answer #1

Given:

Medication:Spironalactone (Aldactone)

Dose:1.5mg/kg

Route:Mouth

Frequency:BID

Weight :75 pounds (34kg)

Available: 25mg tablet

To calculate per dose for the child

1.5mg=1kg

Then ??=34kg

Cross multiply and divide

=51mg ( the child has to be administered 51mg per dose)

When 25mg=1tablet

Then 51mg=??

=2.04 or 2 (51×1÷25=2.04)

The nurse has to administer 2 tablets per dose
