Flow rate by infusion pump

Volume(ml)/time(hr)= Y ( flow rate in ml/hr).

1) 2L D5W over 24 hrs

Acc to formula: 2000/24= 83 drops per hr

2) order: 500ml NS bolus over 2 hours

500/2 = 250 ml/ hr

3) order: 1ltr NS over 9 hours

1000/9= 111 ml / hr approximately

4) order 1Ltr D5.45NS over 16 hrs

1000/16= 62.5 ml/hr

5) order 750ml NS over 6hrs

750/6= 125 ml/hr.

Drip rate calculation:

1) drip factor 15 gtt/ ml, 1000ml D5W over 8 hrs.

8hrs = 480minutes

1000*15= 15000

15000/ 480= 31.25gtt/ min or 32 gtt/min (on round)
