Answer: Critical thinking can be defined as the ability to make a decision which leads to a positive outcome and have mutual benefits. It includes decision making by analyzing, evaluating as well as regarding the positive results. In a healthcare profession, critical thinking plays an important role by emphasizing on the assessment and decision making. Critical thinking can be applied in the healthcare profession for obtaining better results and to provide quality of care to the patients.

  • Interpretation: This includes an understanding of the problem as well as and explaining the meaning of information or the concerned issue.
  • Analyzing: Analyzing the reason as well as investigating the course of action which is based on the information obtained by subjective and objective data.
  • Evaluating: It includes the assessment of the problem.

Critical thinking applies the logical concern where the main aim to achieve the best result in the given situation. Critical thinking is generally performed in the hospital by the healthcare professionals while treating the patient when they are in the dilemma or the situation is out of control ( in an emergency).
