1, Terminally ill patient like cancer,need special support and care..It should be given by family,friends and health care services..Care which is provided for patients with final illness very important in their lives..Palliative care program is a special care for these type of illness.. In Saudi Arabia more than 80% of pediatric patients present with advanced cancer,but cure rates are less than 30%..
The goal of treating terminally ill patient are to care and relieve their symptoms,prevent impending problems,improve the quality of life and extend the survival if possible..These services focus on health care professional education program how to control their symptoms, psychological support and coordinated services..It helps to modify their distress and disablement,supportive and holistic care provided from the time of diagnosis to improve the quality of life and to maintain their life until death..
In Saudi Arabia there was problem in palliative care due to strong emphasis on cure, lack of physician, lack of family health services,lack of adequate method of pain relief, unwillingness to discuss the dying and death..
2, Home health care program for terminally ill patient with end of life meet the possible needs by education of the patient and family and increasing the caregiver's knowledge to feel more comfortable in role of care and it improve their confidence in procedure and decision - making..Nursing care focus on pain management,nutrition guidance,respiratory care,skin care,psychological support..Arranging necessary medical equipment for those patients and services available for 24 hours a day can help to maintain control over the end of their lives..It is very essential especially when patient close to death patient and family need more support..
