A male, Southeast Indian patient who has a beard and is wearing a turban and cloth strings on his wrist is brought into your ED following a car accident. He is unconscious. The ER staff will need to remove the patient's clothes and turban to check for injuries. What precautions RN and other staff take to avoid conflict and honor the patient's religious beliefs? please give one big paragraph in third person :) you can explain as much as u want and if any sources used provide reference if possible |
Caring of patients wearing turbans is a daunting task.Assess the condition and cultursl preferences of the patient and build a relationship based on trust. Assess the the meaning of the clients verbal and nonverbal behavior. Encourage family involvement. Health instructions must be given in a simple language. As the South East Indian patient regards their culture, care must be taken to prevent hurting their feelings. It is important to ask the patients if they are comfortable discussing sensitive issues with who is in the room. If a patients condition is such that his/her life may possibly in danger and there is no time to ask or seek advice, all medical treatment designed to avert the threat of life should be carried out without question and delay. A patient who is not dangerously ill should be allowed to maintain his turban during his medical treatment and all steps taken to allow them to be able to wear these throughout the treatment, where it is reasonable to do so.
