1. Nursing Considerations for patients with Bilateral Lung transplant:

Before the Lung Transplant:

• Assess the patient physical condition.
• Assess the lab values.
• Assess the patient current medication
• Assess for any previous blood transfusions and illness
• Provide them social support and participate them in support groups.
• Promote spiritual well-being.
• Assess the nutritional status and provide a high calorie and high protein diet.

After the Lung transplant:

• Maintain hygienic measures
• Frequent assess for signs and symptoms in order to prevent rejection or infection.
• Assess the pain level and manage with appropriate measures.
• Avoid NSAIDS drug after transplant.
• Educate them to avoid alcohol and smoking.
• Educate about the follow up of care
• Encourage nutritional diet intake for wound healing.

2. When there is an increased salt in the body, the body retains the water to balance between sodium and water. In Congestive Heart failure, the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body needs. In addition, the excess of water decreases the heart pumping capacity results in heart failure.

Nursing Considerations:

• Monitor daily weight to know the fluid status.
• Monitor Intake and output daily.
• Monitor vital signs.
• Maintain the fluid restriction.
• Limit sodium intake
• Administer diuretics.
• Check for bounding pulses.
• Check for swelling of legs.
