Explain how you would respond to an employee who says to you: "Don't hand me this reengineering stuff. That's just a fancy way of saying you're going to cut staff.

For handling such as employee and avoiding any conflict, I will explain the reason for the delegation of the task to him or her. Communicate to him or her that this is not for cutting the staff. I will try to build trust, explain the limitations and then try to persuade him or her to do the task by telling that he or she will grow and learn more skills that are going to be of help in future.
