Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the qualitative research approach to knowledge generation in nursing. Use one common example throughout your discussion.

The advantages of the qualitative research include; the fact that due to the numerical basis of the data easier to make predictions based on quantitative data. It is harder to argue with the results of quantitative research.

The disadvantage includes; it cannot be used to explain social phenomena, which makes it less useful in the social effects of healthcare. Thus this approach is good to study and generate knowledge in nursing about say the prevalence of a disease in a population but not good to study the social impact of the study.
