- The levels of evidence provide a standard by which the field of nursing can evaluate the rigor of research in order to be confident that the findings are worthy of regard and consideration for being embedded in nursing practice.

- Without a robust standard, practitioner could arrive at the independent decision about research quality that would be like comparing apples to oranges and ostensibly put patient at risk.
