Close monitoring of unwanted movements by screening

Reduce the dose of antipsychotic drugs .

Risk factors

Epilepsy , central nervous system damage , exposure to antipsychotic drugs in past and present , Parkinson diseases , alcohol or substance abuse.

Complex effects of antipsychotic drugs on cerebral dopamine system.

2. EXPECTED FINDINGS ;

Dystonia , akathisisa, parkinsonism, tardive akathesia

Interfering with social activities like communication , motor skills and also affect the daily living activities.

Affecting some muscles like

Opisthotomus ( back and extremities muscles)

Neck (torticollis)

Trismus (jaw)

Eyes( oculogyric crisis)

Tortipelvic crisis( pelvic muscles)

Compelling urge to move

Repetitive movements like leg crossing , swinging,.

3. NURSING CARE;

Close monitoring of patient with unwanted moves

Reduce the symptoms by involving them in another activities

Encourage them for occupational therapy

Assist with them for walking and physical activities

Encourage them to participate in group therapy and social activities

Offering rewards to them for their succeeds.

Reduce the environmental distractions

Provide adequate rest to them

Administer medications to them.

4.INTERPROFESSIONAL CARE;

Administer prophylactic diphenhydramine for bolus in emergency management

Administer prophylactic anticholinergic medications.
