The federal government initiates the step of implementing mumps testing through Public Health laboratories. Increased level of mumps testing helps the local and state departments to control the outbreaks of mumps and preserves the public health resources. Specified guidance and steps also followed to avoid the unnecessary collection and test of a specimen.

The public health laboratory personnel should have improved knowledge, skills, abilities to run the public health laboratory effectively. The direct workforce should provide guidelines to the laboratories and improve core competencies. The workforce makes the laboratory persons provide a wide range of activities.
