One of the greatest challenges that nurses is motivating patients to enhance their health behaviors. There are some key elements that can help to motivate the patients. Nurses can improve patient motivation by strategies that comprise learning what is essential to them. The first element is to know what is important to the patient and motivate them that they need to focusing on what is important to them and assist them. The other element is to help the patient recognize their small successes during their healing process to replace the negative internal messages (McCormack et al., 2017). The family plays a crucial part in ensuring that the patient maintain being motivated towards improving their health outcomes. In this regards, they are responsible in ensuring the patient adheres to all medication and keep reminding the patient what is important to them as well as mention the small success the patient has achieved in their journey to improve their health.
