This is because Roberto promised to pay $500 to Mariasela for walking the dogs in the past. So, when Mariasela walked the dogs, she did it by her own choice and did not enter into any contract with Roberto. It is nowhere specified that she walked the dogs because Roberto promised to pay her $500. She did the activity in the past when their was no terms of consideration discussed by them. It was not in exchange of anything while performing the activity. The walking of dogs was not intentionally for money in the past.Hence, Roberto is not liable.
