I am trying to find a nursing theory that fits well with compassion fatique or one that coincides with patients taking out thier anger and frustration on healthcare staff.

Compassion fatigue is the burst or burnout condition that can happen to any nurses anytime. Jean Watson " Theory of Human Caring "best fits with this condition. According to him, the care should possess positive energy for both the patient and the staff. The nurse should be in place of optimizing healing care. The nurse should be sensible in promoting self-actualization within the individual and in the team. He says the nurse has to care interpersonally as human to human to promote healing. The nurse should have the quality of mercy, kindness, love, caring, gentleness when offering care to others. His concept is caring for others will impact on their own self-care.

Thus the nurse self-actualization, self-care activities decreases the compassion fatigue. Caring with Mindfulness and kindness decreases fatigue and increases satisfaction. Caring with nature improves the nurse professional career and nurtures personal growth.
