Meningitis refers to the inflammation of the meningeal layers of the brain.

Bacterial meningitis is the most severe life threatening form of meningitis which needs immediate medical help.This is often contagious .Studies proves that the grey matter of the brain are affected

Viral meningitis are caused by virus and commonest form .This is treatable easily..Aseptic meningitis is caused by viral infections

Fungal meningitis is very rare in occurrence .This affect people who have weak immune system.

The prognosis of tubercular meningitis is good if diagnosed very early but the main problem is before the diagnosis is made there would be damage occured to brain .The survival rate is 70 to 85% with some form of neurological defects.Hence very high rate of death is prevalent
