Memory loss (amnesia)  and Confusion both are psychiatric diseases.

In AMNESIA a the person forgets the things, caused due to disease, convulsions or brain damage. But it can also be causes due to use of hypnotic drugs and sedatives.

In CONFUSION the person has inability to focus in an clear manner. Mental confusion have causes that are not due to any other disease. Causes of confusion includes stress, sleep deprivation, intoxication, mental overload, or exposure to new situation.

Treatment of both diseases focuses on to techniques and strategies to help make up for the mental functions.

For every psychiatric disorder it requires long term management, to treat the disease we need to cure the underlying cause of the disease. The management includes:

  • Management of cause or underlying disease
  • Family therapy
  • Behavior therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Nutrition ( vitamin B-12)
  • Medication

In psychiatric diseases medications are not so useful than therapies. So we should use therapies frequently to these patients. The family support is so important for treating these diseases.
