The term mHealth basically denotes the use of mobile phones, tablets and other likewise wireless devices for healthcare. The main benefit is that users can use it conveniently from their home or while travelling thus accelerating great improvement in preventive healthcare.
Now there are many mHealth apps available in the market which helps to curb insomnia ie a person's inability to fall or stay asleep.
Now in the context , people undergoing night shifts frequently like me(I am a PICU Nurse) generally tend to suffer the most from insomnia. After night shifts we suffer from insomnia because our body cant adjust to frequent disturbance of sleep cycle.
So here comes the use of this popular mHealth App called Sleep Cycle.
It can be downloaded and installed via Google play store ,both in androids and iphones. It has a rating of 5 star on iphone usage and 4 star on android usage. After our 15 th day of using this app we can sync this app to Iphones's Health App.The App basically comes free with purchasing of various inbuilt apps. The version is 3.2.2.3495- release and is lastly updated on 4 th September with downloads of 5000000+ by users.Inbulit apps may take Rs 50 to Rs 2100 but its optional.
Now how it works is pretty precise. We need not put our phone undee our pillow like other mHealth apps. But we need to keep it on the bedside table or the floor near to which the person is sleeping. It will track n graphify the sleeping pattern along with snoring history with as far as the cause of snoring. It will also monitor how our caffeine intake is affecting our sleep. In this way we can get a full explainatory patternnof when we are getting the best sleep and when we are not.
This app also has a wonderful alarm that tracks when we are in our lightest sleeping phase and less likely to be groggy and wakes up people gently. We can easily snooze the alarm by double tapping it or shaking the phone. The app also stores the sleeping and snoring data online and one can make it into an excel too.
So basically if i drank more caffeine in my night shift i will have a light sleep pattern which Sleep Cycle can demonstarte me during graphs of how my sleep was affected. So it works wonders for all the night owls over there.
