Mind–body techniques are based on the belief that what we think and feel can affect our physical and mental wellbeing.
When our emotions or mental state are under pressure, our physical body can be affected. Similarly, physical symptoms can have a negative impact on our mood and mental wellbeing. Mind–body techniques may also be called psychological techniques, emotional therapies or spiritual healing.

The Greek values of strength and beauty in combination with Greek mythology led to activities intended to promote confidence.
Eastern MBI in the form of yoga originated in Ancient India and has been around since at least 500 BCE and possibly as early as 3300 BCE.
A renewed interest developed in mind-body work in the late 19th and early 20th century. Possibly due to visits from yoga gurus and increased interest, some medical practitioners and movement specialists developed movement therapies with a deliberate mental focus.
Two prominent names in modern mind-body training are Joseph Pilates (1880-1967) and Margaret Morris (1891-1980).
@ Three advantages are-
1.mind–body techniques can benefit people who have cancer by reducing the symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatment. These include pain, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, fear and difficulty sleeping, which can all affect mood and overall wellbeing.
2.various parts of the brain known to be involved in attention and in the control of the autonomic nervous system are activated, providing a neurochemical and anatomical basis for the effects of meditation on various physiological activities.
3.Focused-attention meditation is like weight lifting for the attention span. It helps increase the strength and endurance of your attention.
@Disadvantages-
1.. They require lifestyle changes.
You have to commit your time, energy, and sometimes even your
finances if you really want to adopt holistic medicine as your
method for gaining optimum health. This means having to make some
major changes to your lifestyle, such as changing your diet and
adopting a different mindset when it comes to dealing with the
stressors in life.
2.. They take time to work.
Most alternative treatments do not heal instantly. It usually takes
several hours or even months before you can see any positive
effects. This can be discouraging for some, especially if you have
a nagging headache that you want to go away immediately
