Tips to prevent poisoning in toddlers, other than the ones given are:

  • Lock all accessible cabinets using safety locks to restrict access.
  • All potential poisons including detergents, cleaners, chemicals etc., should be kept/stored out of reach of the toddler.
  • Potential poisons and foods should be kept separately; store them in different storage areas.
  • All products should be kept in their respective storage areas after use and keep the toddler in sight during use.
  • Safely dispose of all unwanted potential poisons into a sealed, outdoor trash receptacle.
  • Do not mix products as this could result in poisonous fumes and the toddler might inhale this.
  • Keep the toddler away from areas sprayed with pesticides or fertilizers.
  • Proper washing of hands and legs of others in the house before entering the house.
  • Save Poison Control Center phone number on the phone.
  • Keep the house especially the floor always clean.
