step 2: low dose of inhaled corticosteroids ICS is preferred. Alternatives are cromolyn, nidocromil, theophylline
step 3: low dose of ICS+LABA (long acting inhaled beta 2 agonist ) is preferred
step 4: medium dose of ICS+ LABA Preferred. Alternatively medium dose of Ics+ Zileuton
step 5: high dose of ICS+LABA and omalizumab is preferred to allergic patients
Step 6: high dose of ICS+LABA+oral corticosteroids and omalizumab for allergic patients is preferred
For intermittent asthma step 1 is required
For persistent asthma step 2 to 6 is needed with daily medication
Quick relief medication include SABA and short course of systemic corticosteroids may be required.SABA use over 2 days relieve the symptoms of the patient.
