Answer #1

In zero order kinetics elimination of drug eliminated at a constant amount per unit time . And in first order kinetics elimination depends on concentration of drug .. but zero order kinetics is independent of concentration..

Hence DRUG A FOLLOWS ZERO ORDER AND DRUG B FOLLOWS ZERO ORDER KINETICS

Two drugs (Drug A and Drug B) are being investigated for their effectiveness as anticonvulsants in the management of complex partial seizures and simple or complex absence seizures. In early preclinical development, they need to determine the affinity, efficacy, and potency for each drug. The results from the drug-receptor binding curves and the dose-response curves show that: 1) for Drug A it has a low Kd value, a high Emax, and a high EC50, and in comparison 2) Drug B...

In order to treat a certain bacterial infection, a combination of two drugs is being tested. Studies have shown that the duration of the infection in laboratory tests can be modeled by D(x, y) = x2 + y2 - 12x - 30y + 2xy + 140 where x is the dosage of the first drug and y is the dosage of the second drug (both in hundreds of milligrams). Find the amount of each drug necessary to minimize the duration...

    7. Smokers are known to have about 50% higher CL than nonsmokers for theophylline. If the average observed AUC after administration of 300 mg IV theophylline in nonsmokers is 100 mg.hr/L, what is the expected AUC in smokers after administration of the same 300 mg dose? Theophylline undergoes linear pharmacokinetics 2. The decay behavior of a radioactive substance obeys first order kinetics: In (N/N.) = -kt, where N is the amount of radioactive nuclei at time = t seconds, N, is the amount at t = 0 seconds, k is the first order rate constant, and t is the elapsed time. If the half-life of the radioactive nuclei is 10 minutes, calculate the amount that remains after 75 seconds. (Hint: at...

    4. Long-lasting drugs: One of the ways in which doctors try to determine how long a single dose of pain reliever will provide relief is to measure the drug's half-life, which is the length of time it takes for one-half of the dose to be eliminated from the body. A report of the National Institutes of Health states that the standard deviation of the half-life of the pain reliever oxycodone is o=1.43 hours. Assume that a sample of 25 patients...
