Let the concentration of product at equilibrium = x M

i.e. the [anilinium] = 1-x, [benzoate] = 5-x

Now, [aniline]×[benzoic acid]/[anilinium]×[benzoate] = 10-4.5/10-4.2 = 0.5

i.e. x×x/(1-x)(5-x) = 0.5

2x2 = x2-6x+5

i.e x2+6x-5 = 0

By solving the above quadratic equation, you will get

x = [product] = 0.7 M (option C).
