1. What are your views on Seattle's potential plan for a safe place for illegal drug use? As a police officer, do you think you would be opposed to it as blatant tolerance of crime? Or would you welcome it as a way to help with some of the burden of drug (esp heroin) use in your area, so that you could focus on other issues in your community? 2. Many police departments are increasing the amount of education or at least showing preference for those with more education to become a police officer. College credit is becoming more important. What could be a pro and con of this trend? this is criminology subject. Please answer in full and detailed. Thanks.

1. Drugs in any form is unhealthy not only to the person consuming but also to the society. The country is fighting to reduce the drugs that is available in the country illegally because they cause more criminal activities. I wouldn’t support the decision of providing a safe place for illegal drugs as it would cause further complications. One of the most important complication is the health risk of those who inhale the drugs. Drugs have the capability of making one addict and continuous intake would spoil one’s health. Secondly, drugs would alter the state of mind thus would make them crave for more drugs. If they don’t receive any, they would engage in illegal activities either for money o buy it or the drugs itself. Thirdly, it would reduce the productivity of those who intake drugs which would cause a damage to the organization where they work. Fourthly, there would be more relationship problems and they won’t be able to take care of their families well. Finally, the number of people who use the drug would increase thus the dependents on the government would also increase. So, providing a safe place for consuming illegal drug shouldn’t be implemented.
2. The advantage would be that people who have a college degree would have enough exposure to different types of people from multiple backgrounds thus, their tolerance level, their treatment of people, their multicultural awareness, their understanding of the society would help them contribute better. They would also view the training programs during their employment positively and acquire enough knowledge and skills. The disadvantage is that those who wish to join the police force would be disappointed because of their educational level. Thus, naturally skillful people who are physically ready for the job wouldn’t get it and this would create more gap because people who were not able to obtain a college degree due to their socioeconomic status would be neglected.
