The most common of storing data in an organized manner is putting in rows and column with a column representing a variable and a row for an observation.

Taking the example of the health care industry, the patient records and their every visit details can be saved in a database.

Database 1: Record only the patient details such name, address, age, gender, contact details and assign a patient number to each unique patient.

Database 2: Record of each patient visiting the hospital. Each patient in this database will be identified with a patient number that helps to link database 1 to database 2. In this database 2, the date, time, medical complain reported/symptoms, doctor visit, the test conducted, fees paid, follow update can be recorded.

Using by joining database 1 and database 2, every time a patient visits the doctor can filter the patient history and prescribe medicines or suggest further treatment.

Hospital management can understand the peak hours or day of the week when a patient with a particular complain visit and so the hospital can make available more doctors at that time.

The database will also help to estimate the revenue.
It will also identify the most sought after doctor.

Addition of capacity in the form of more lab facilities, hospital beds, the equipment can be decided based on the historical demand based filtered reports from the database.
