Tartaric acid are classified under weak acids. Weak acids are those acids that do not dissociate or dissociate in less quanitity on water. Out of every 900 molecules of tartaric acid, only one molecule dissociates tin water, rest 899 molecules remain undissociated. The pka of tartaric acid is around 2.98. Hence it is classified as weak acid
