How do you think Alcoholics Anonymous helps the alcoholic? Why has this program been so successful through the decades? Do you know anyone who attends AA? Why is anonymity critical to the alcoholics success?

A group of people facing the same problems can relate well with each other. They are not only more comfortable around people with the same habits, but also find the environment safe wherein they can share their experiences freely. Alcoholics Anonymous helps am alcoholic person because they feel they are not the only one's who have a bad habit. They feel there are others around them too who are addicted to alcohol. Listening to other people's stories, their struggles can be very inspiring and can motivate an individual to give up alcohol. Also, seeing people's condition (specially those deteriorating at a fast pace) can act as a warning signal for those who haven't let alcohol get the best of them yet.

My cousin brother used to attend AA and he actually found it very helpful. The group was small, but turned out to be very effective for him.

Anonymity is critical because it ensures confidentiality and there is no hesitation in exchanging thoughts and experiences with each other.
