Answer #1

Solution

x2 + y2 - 6x + 18y + 90 = 9

(x – a) + (y – b)? = 12

is the circle equation with a radius r, centered at (a, b)

x² + y2 - 6x + 18y +90 = 9 in the form of the standard circle equation

x2 - 6x + y + 18y = -81

(x2 - 6x) + (y2 + 18y) = -81

(x2 - 6x +9) + (y2 + 18y) = -81 +9

(x – 3)2 + (y2 + 18y) = -81 +9

(x - 3)2 + (y2 + 18y +81) = -81 +9+81

(x – 3)+ (y +9)2 = -81 +9+81

(x – 3)2 + (y +9)2 = 9

(x – 3)2 + (y -(-9)) = 34

Therefore the circle properties are :

(a, b) = (3, -9), r = 3

And the center is :

(3, -9)
