Strategic Management means to Analyses the situation and work upon that in order to reduce the stress of operation management. Every strategy is designed keeping in view the current market situation and also th future forecasting.

By using tools and techniques the problem of management can be solved and to decide which tool or technique to be used is call strategy and to use it on continues basis is called strategy management.

For students to understand the tools and techniques is must as the case studies give the open advantage to students to learn and adopt new skills in their knowledge and memory.

Points to be considered:

  • Understanding the Case Study : The first and foremost is to understand the case study . One can do as the case study is designed in such a way that students are able to gain practical knowledge of those cases. To understand this one need proper attention on each and every activity prescribed in the case studies. In a shorter period one is able to gain experience which he might not be able to get physically therefore to understand the case should be the top priority as it is the first step.
  • Evaluation and Analyses: It includes the history of the case study i.e.. how it call started, the development growth i.e.. was the business expanded if yes where and if not then why, the Identification of Risk associated and by doing SWOT analysis one will be able to find the threats as well. Moreover one will also be able to know te present strategies used by the corporate in the case and how higher chances are there to amend that strategies.
  • External Environment : This plays a very important part in giving decision to any case. Along with SWOT analysis one has to do PESTEL analysis as well.
  • Followup : This steps involves the followup from each and every Section of department used in the case

Strategic management model

There are different different models in the market designed especially to understand the strategic Management. However according to me the best out of all is Porte's Five forces Model. Opting of this model helps the students to gain advantage of all the possibilities and knowledge of the case. This makes complex situation the easy one and also is able to fix the deviation as it analyses both the environment i.e.. the external as well as internal.

  1. Threat of Substitution: In the market every vendor have this threat this means substituting the original product with the similar product due to change in market. For e.g.. One has discovered the Artificial Intelligence but the business are either outsourcing it or doing it manually as that is cheap as compare to purchasing of AI . Hence this will degrade the value of the product and one is able to Analyses this degradation.
  2. Threat of New Entry : The market is the open system . Everyone is allow to welcome or exit the market. But when any already existed competitor start the new chain of business or some other competitor from different zone started your kind of business this will effect the sales. he position of the business can be affected.
  3. Purchasing Power Parity : The Third Force is to understand the buyer's Purchasing power parity. Is buyer able to spend much on the product you produced and are there sufficient buyer in the market if yes then what is the size of the order.
  4. Bargaining power of Supplier : This include how readily is the product available for sales . Is it uniquest from other or every time you launch is there innovation . What is the marketing Mix of the product or the USP.
  5. Competition : The product and buyer are limited however the vendors are unlimited. Therefore there is always the one person selling similar product this give rise to competition in the market. If you are new entry then there are already established vendor of the same business in the market.If you are existing business then new business may break your sales by offering the product at relatively low price or may offer substitutes to gain advantage.

Therefore to develop the strategy everywhere i.e. in the running business or in the new business or external environment or internal environment the important is :

1. The case

2. The Market

3. The Techniques and tools used

4. And lastly The management decision.

The above discussion makes clear points to be included. However there are points to exclude as well

  1. In formation there should not be fictional examples.
  2. There should always be proper formatting and series to understand the case, jumping from one to another should be avoided.
  3. Restrict the alternatives the problem should have maximum one or two alternatives.
