Week 6 Discussion (Families and Chances of Divorce) Hi Everyone, Please participate in the following Discussion on Chapter 11: Families and Intimate Relationships, This chapter discusses the concept of living together to help reduce the chances of divorce. Share with me if you feel that this would be a valid argument and what does the text state about this idea? Does it actually reduce the chances of divorce? Feel free to answer this discussion question on Chapter 12: In Chapter 12, on page 358, about the middle of the page, there is a discussion of the influences of both education and religion. We talked last week about life chances and how gender, ethnicity, and race, can all be factors in how well you do and how far you go in our society. Now, I am sure that you all know who Malala Yousafzai, she was the teenage girl who wanted to go to school in Pakistan and the Taliban tried to assassinate here. She then went onto receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts towards education. So, we see that, globally, both education and religion are not without conflict and for many girls around the world, education is not even an option. So, both religion and education are two very important topics and share controversy. So, let's think critically about both education and religion. son 1) As we are seeing instances of inequality around the world and the struggles to gain access to education, such as the plight fight that Malala went through, we see the extreme value of education in our society. Check out the graph on page 363, and tell me what successes and achievements from our ability to grow our educational institutions (both primary and secondary college too) here in the United States, could be utilized to grow education in lesser developed countries, such as Kenya, Afghanistan, and Rwanda? Next, we see religion as a struggle, as well. Do you feel that any of the sociological viewpoints of Marx, Durkheim or Weber, could be used to address the struggles that we see with religion either in our society or around the world? Man isba social animal. He loves company of others. Today it is gound that we are victim of divorce and separation. But it appears more to those who live alone in nuclear family setting. In the joint family it is not so common. There are many reasons of less divorce in the joint family where all members live together:

• In the joint family all members live together. There is a mutual understanding among the members. If any problems appear, then other members help to solve the peoblems. It is a common matter that problem may appear in the couple any time. But divorce is not always solution. So, with the help of the other members divorce is prevented.
• People are victim of many mental disordet due to loneliness. It causes depression. In the nuclear family the family members suffer from loneliness and depression. It is a major factor of divorce. But in a joint family where all live together, the family members do never feel loneliness and depression. They spend their leisure time with chatting or working togethers.
• When we live together we learn some common education how to live together. There are some unseen rules what we follow willingly. The joint family imparts in us the concept of patience, tolerances, mutual understanding, love, affection, pity and so on. Such noble feelings make us more acceptable. Little bitterness can not bother us. Naturally such tendency helps to reduce divorce.
• In a joint family when all members live together, the family duties are shared by all memhers. Nobody feels pressure. All the activities are done by all. So, there is no hazards and problem. If one member is busy, then his work is done by other member. Naturally such attitude keeps one free from mental pressure and tension. It helps to reduce divorce.
