Collaborate learning is a situation where two or more people
study or try to learn something together. Unlike individual
learning, people involved in learning together use their resources
and skills (ask each other for information, evaluate each other's
ideas, see each other's work, etc.). In particular, collaborative
learning is based on a model in which knowledge can be developed in
a population where members interact actively through sharing
experiences and assuming asymmetric roles. In other words,
collaborative learning refers to the method and environment in
which the learner participates in a common task in which
individuals are dependent and accountable to each other. These
include face-to-face conversations and computer-based discussions
(online forums, chat rooms, etc.). Methods for exploring
collaborative learning processes include conversational analysis
and statistical discourse analysis.
In this way, collaborative learning is usually presented when
groups of students work together to find an understanding, meaning
or solution, or to create an artifact or product of their study. In
addition, collaborative teaching redefines student-teacher
relationships in the classroom, leading to debate about whether the
model is more useful than harmful. Collaborative learning
activities may include written assignments, group projects,
collaborative problem solving, group discussion, tutoring and other
activities. Methods are closely linked to collaborative
learning.
