a1 = - 38 / 10.7 m/s^2 = - 3.55 m/s^2

the acceleration of 2 , a2 = F /m2

a2 = 38 / 17.84 m/s^2 = 2.13 m/s^2

time interval , t = 0.5 s

the separation , s = 0 + 0.5 * ( a2 - a1) * t^2

s = 0 + 0.5 * (2.13 - (-3.55)) * 0.5^2

s = 0.71 m
