A prediction interval is a range of value that predict range for new observation based on the regression analyses or regression model.
With this type of interval, we are predicting ranges for individual observations .
While in the confidence interval we are giving range of the mean
value of parameter.
hence while interpreting the confindence interval in a) part we conclude mean fuel efficiency will lie between the calculated bounds and in b) part we say that the fuel efficiency of car weighing 3600 pound will lie between the calculated bounds.
observe in b part we used the word fuel efficiency instead of mean fuel efficiency.
thanx for asking please like.
there is a typo error in b) question. both the option b) and c) are same.

Assume we have taken an SRS of 49 UCLA students and calculated a 95% confidence interval for the mean age to be 23 < µ< 27 years. Determine which of the following interpretations are True. Then answer parts i and ii in the space below. A. A 95% confidence interval for the mean age of students at UCLA is 23 to 27. This means that 95% of all students are in this interval. B. A 95% confidence interval for the mean...

You are on the market for a new car. You want to check whether there is a significant difference between the fuel economy of mid-size domestic cars and mid-size import cars. You sample 18 domestic car makes and find an average fuel economy of 32.285 MPG with a standard deviation of 5.3077 MPG. For imports, you sample 14 cars and find an average MPG of 36.588 MPG with a standard deviation of 7.6146. Construct a 90% confidence interval for the...

QUESTION 7 A US consumer lobby wishes to develop a model to predict gasoline usage, as measured by miles per gallon, based on the weight of the car in pounds. The Excel data file AUTO.xls (contained in a folder under the CML Quizzes tab) contains data on this for fifty recent models. Use Excel Data Analysis to estimate a linear model for the relationship, a 95% confidence interval for as opecoefice and ha residua po State...
