1. The hypothalamus and pituitary complex is the command center of the endocrine system. It coordinates the messages of the endocrine and nervous system.
The hypothalamus is located anterior and inferior to the thalamus. It produces and secretes many hormones. It is anatomically connected to the pituitary gland by a hollow stock called infundibulum.
The pituitary gland consists of two lobes. They are anterior pituitary (adenohypophysis), and posterior pituitary gland (neurohypophysis).
