NCl3 + 3 H2O ----- > NH3 + 3 HOCl

given that wate r= 275 g

number o fmole s= amount in g / molar mass

= 275 g/ 18.02 g/ mole

= 15.3moles H2O

15.3 Mole H2O * 1 mole NH3 /3 mole H2O

= 5.1 mole NH3

c.

14.8 g NH3

Number of mole s= 14.8 g/ 17.031 g/mol

=0.869 mole NH3

NCl3 + 3 H2O ----- > NH3 + 3 HOCl

0.869 mole NH3 *1 mole NCl3 /1 mole NH3

= 0.869 mole NCl3

Amount in g = number of mole * molar mass

= 0.869 mole NCl3*120.365 g/mol

= 104.6 g NCl3

3. 2 mole H2O

2.0 mole NCl3

NCl3 + 3 H2O ----- > NH3 + 3 HOCl

2.0 mole NCl3 *3 mole H2O /1 mole NCl3

= 6.0 mole H2O

3. 2 mole H2O *1 mole NCl3 / 3 mole H2O

= 1.07 Mole NCl3

The limiting agent has following properties:

  1. It completely reacted in the reaction.
  2. It determines the amount of the product in mole.

Thus H2O is a limiting agent
