5.2 - Consider the following open positions at a local telecommunications company:
- Customer Service Representative
- Operations Manager
- VP of Marketing
Describe the applicable labor markets for each of these positions and how you would recruit for these positions, including specific sources that you would utilize.
I work as a Recruiter in an Recruitment and staffing company, so it is my daily task to identify such requirements of an open role and accordingly hire people, depending upon the industry, given below are the applicable Market for each of the following.
1) Customer service representative
Customer service representative position need not have any particular qualifications or any particular skill, apart from decent communication skills, a person that knows English and the local laguange is good for the position, so we consider people who have passed 12th standard eligible for the same.
My my labour market would have people who just completed their schooling or are just with their graduation.
Now, the mode through which I would Recruite people for this role, first of all I would use various job portals, like resdex(naukri), monster, shine, indeed to search for resumes and source and screen people according to my need but the challenge we often have for this position through job portals are that freshers are generally too casual because they have multiple options in hand, so they don't turn up for interviews, the second mode we adopt is through college placements and through job seminars. In the last two modes the turn ups are quite high.
2) Operations Manager
This is a mid managerial position wherein the person should have relevant experience in similar role and in similar industry, it involves overseeing of production of goods and provision of services.
So, my labour target would include people particularly from telecommunication industry either of Assistant manager(operations) or operations manager, the target market here becomes to confined.
I would hire people through majorly the job portals secondly through employee referrals.
3) vice president
This is the senior management role, for this position I need somebody who is in any of the industry at a senior manager role because the hierarchy goes up to from SM to VP, the reason that I am not too specific about industry is this because the job demands managerial roles and the person would be involved in formulation of plans and programes to achieve targets and goals and set performance standards
I would hire people for this position through job portals, job postings and employee referrals.
