if I were a CEO of a manufacturing firm, I would have gone for a SORT analysis because of the following reason

1. It gives a complete idea of the strength and dimension of the firm, it let us know on a clear indicator that what is our strength and where we stand today in the market

2. In a similar way, it can help me know the weakness of the firm

3. Opportunities and Threats are all other parameters I would like to know as a CEO. It will give m an idea as to where we stand in the market and what are the potential and existing threats in the market for us as well as what are the areas of opportunities.

In general, SWOT ANALYSIS gives some measurable and quantifiable idea of the performance of the firm in terms of the political, social, economic and technological aspect of an Industry

In my opinion Portfolio is more about the assumption based on opinions
