Generating electricity from ethanol is a much cheaper and more cleaner process as it is a renewable resource and greatly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Ethanol burns very clean, mostly reducing carbon monoxide emissions. Being produced from biomass, ethanol usually makes much more power than normal gasoline does. This is because of the higher number of octanes present in an ethanol molecule as compared to gasoline which accounts for it's increased performance and power.
