ANSWER

Mass of the man = 322lbm = 146.057 kg

Velocity vo = 6ft/s = 1.8288 m/s

Distance from the centre = 8 ft = 2.4384 m

Angular Speed = wo  =0.5 rad /s

Velocity due to rotation = Rw = 2.4384 x .5 = 1.2192 m/s

Net velocity = 1.80.288 - 1.2192 = 0.6096 m/s

Force acting in the plane = mv2/R = 146.057 x ( 0.6096 )2 / 2.4384 = 22.2591 N = 22.2591 x 0.2248

= 5.00 lbf

Correct option is E

A merry-go-round modeled as a disk of mass 100 kg and radius 2.0 m is rotating around a frictionless vertical axle. After a person of mass 60 kg jumps onto the merry-go-round, the system’s angular speed decreases to 2.0 rad/s. If the person walks slowly from the edge toward the center, find the change in the system’s rotational kinetic energy caused by her movement to 0.5 m from the center.

A 4.5-m-diameter merry-go-round is rotating freely with an angular velocity of 0.84 rad/s . Its total moment of inertia is 1700 kg⋅m2 . Four people standing on the ground, each of mass 68 kg , suddenly step onto the edge of the merry-go-round. What is the angular velocity of the merry-go-round now? What if the people were on it initially and then jumped off in a radial direction (relative to the merry-go-round)?
