As you are learning about propositions and contradictions, write out a view that you hold on a social issue in propositional form (A, E, I, or O). What is the logical contradiction to your view? Identify a specific group that advocates the contradiction of your viewpoint.

Social Issues are the problems influencing a considerable number of individuals in the society due to their societal or economic actions undertaken.

Some common social issues existing throughout the world are;

ALCOHOLISM

Proposition: According to ICMR (Indian Council for Medical Research) Alcoholism is increasing the crime rate, health issues and mental disorder.

Contradiction: according to the report published by the medical daily alcoholism help an individual against the common cold, decreases the cardiovascular diseases and lower the chances of diabetics, so alcoholism is medically acceptable in limited ways.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

Proposition: With increasing industrialization and infrastructure facilities the pollution is increasing exponentially, that it reached the ceiling limit. The Report published by the WHO illustrates that the pollution had reached such a limit that impact caused by pollution became an irreversible process.

Contradiction: Scientific studies made by Halmocenter and other such research institution illustrates that the earth has self-healing capability. Though the pollution increases, the earth compensates some of its valuables resources such as the melting of the glazier, depletion of groundwater and water bodies, increase in temperature, incremental disaster, climatic and other such effects to heal itself. Hereby, pollution will be controlled and maintained by earth despite the increase in industrialization and infrastructure.

INTOLERANCE

Proposition: The time period study illustrates that most of the individuals lost their tolerance level due to dynamism in the environment, social pressure and family constraints.

Contradiction: Many studies also illustrate that the tolerance level of the individual increases from childhood to old age.

OZONE DEPLETION

Proposition: Various studies indicates that ozone depletion is increasing due to human activities.

Contradiction: few scientific studies exemplifies that the ozone depletion is increasing not by human activities but by the ageing effect of earth.

UNEMPLOYMENT

Propositions: With increasing population and limited companies the unemployment rate is increasing at an alarming rate.

Contradiction: The companies are getting updated at every instant of time with updating environment and technology, so the demand for expertise in a particular field is high. Hereby if the existing population are knowledgeably updated with current environment and technology in the particular field, they would find a job obviously. It lacks skill and knowledge and its increasing number is making them unemployed in the current scenario.
