Most of the bright stars in the night sky are giants and supergiants. How can this be, if giants and supergiants make up only 1% of the population of stars? (HINT: there's a difference between everything that's out there, and what you can see.)

Answer #1

Ans:

Giants and Supergiant stars make only 1℅ of the total population of stars. There are other stars in the night sky which we cannot see.

Stars are classified by their spectra and their temperature. There are seven main types of stars. In order of decreasing temperature, they are classified as, O, B, A, F, G, K, and M.

Giants and Supergiants are 'O' and 'B' type stars. They are very bright and large stars. Thats's why we can see them in the night sky.

'M' type stars are Most sequence stars. They are very common but dim. They make 90% of the whole star population. Sun is an example of main sequenc star.

The rest of the star population makes A, F, G & K type stars. They consits of mainly red dwarfs, neutron stars, white dwarfs etc. They are not visible in the night sky.

    6. • The Crab Nebula One of the most studied objects in the night sky is the Crab nebula, the remains of a supernova explosion observed by the Chinese in 1054. In 1968 it was discovered that a pulsar-a rapidly rotating neutron star that emits a pulse of radio waves with each revolution-lies near the center of the Crab nebula. The period of this pulsar is 33 ms. What is the angular speed (in rad/s) of the Crab nebula pulsar?...

This is because the Purchasing Department is evaluated solely by its ability to get the lowest purchase prices. The lowest bidder receives the order for the next quarter (9 working days). To make its bulb products, Bright Night requires 52,200 pounds of glass per quarter. Bright Night received two glass bids for the third quarter, as...
