Definition of probation and how it compares to other forms of sentencing.
Probation is the method of allowing the convict to live in the society by imposing some restrictions which is opposite of jail sentence. It asks the person to appear before the officer for regalar checkups and might be given some rules like not leaving the country. This is different from other forms of punishments as this provides the prisoner to be in the outside world rather than in jail. It helps the convict to change themselves. In other forms of sentencing the convict is imprisoned and needs to serve their term and only then they are released.
