Plan assets from a defined benefit plan included in a valuation as a non operating assets because plan assets for defined benefit plan are used to pay for retiree benefit and is used exclusively for the payment of retirement obligation so such plan assets are treated as non operating and it is not contributing in the revenue generation process so it would not be treated as operating assets
